Sironko district is home district for Forum for Democratic Change - FDC's Secretary General and former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Nathan Nandala Mafabi. He's the member of parliament for Badadiri West constituency in the district.
A part of Mount Elgon is within Sironko district, with Sasa trail one of the main trails in the park, starting in the trading centre of Budadiri.
Sironko district borders Bulambuli to the north, Kapchorwa and Kween districts to the northeast, Bududa to the southeast, Mbale to southwest and Bukedea to the west whereas the Republic of Kenya lies to the east of the district.
District Headquarters: Sironko, 22 kilometres northeast of Mbale.
