Hoima district is in western Uganda. The recent discovery of petroleum in the district and
neighbouring districts is increasingly attracting people to the area in the
many activities that the industry entails.
Hoima borders Buliisa to the north, Masindi to
the northeast, Kyankwanzi in the east, Kibaale to the south,
Ntoroko to the southwest and the Democratic Republic of the Congo across
Lake Albert to the west.
