Sheema is a new district that was formed out of Bushenyi. This is the home district of health minister, Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye who is the member of parliament for Sheema County North constituency.

The district borders Buhweju to the north, Mbarara to the east, Ntungamo to the south, Mitooma to the southwest and the parent district of Bushenyi to the west.
District Headquarters: Kibingo town, 35 kilometres west of Mbarara
