Sembambule District

Sembambule District is in central Uganda, home to Bigo Bya Mugyenyi, the historical site of the Chwezi kingdom.

The Chwezi are believed to have lived here from the 11th century to the 16th century.

Sembabule is also a home district to prominent political figures, including the former coordinator of military intelligence, Gen. David Tinyefuza a.k.a Sejusa. Others are area members of parliament Theodore Ssekikubo and Sam Kutesa who is also the minister of foreign affairs and former president of the United Nations General Assembly.

The district borders Mubende to the north, Gomba to the northeast, Bukomansimbi to the east, Lwengo to the south, Lyantonde to the southwest, and Kiruhura to the northwest.

District Headquarters: Sembabule, 48 kilometres northwest of Masaka.

Ranching and dairy farming are the backbone of the district's economy.
