Bududa District

Bududa District was carved out of Manafwa in 2006 and is largely a rural district.

It lies at an average altitude of 1,800 metres above sea level with a third of the total area being Mount Elgon National Park.

It borders Sironko to the north, Manafwa to the south, and Mbale to the west. It is also at the border of Uganda and the republic Kenya which is to the east of the district.

District Headquarters: Bududa 23 kilometres southeast of Mbale.

In 2012 rains caused landslides that wreaked this mountainous area and displaced people. Government indeed relocated some of the worst affected residents.
