Rubirizi is a new district that was formed out of Bushenyi. Close to half of Queen Elizabeth National Park lies in this district as well as part of Lake Edward and the Kazinga Channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George.

It borders Kasese district to the north, Kamwenge to the northeast, Ibanda to the east, Buhweju to the southeast, Bushenyi to the south, Rukungiri to the southwest and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west.
District Headquarters: Rubirizi, 60 kilometres south of Kasese.
