Katakwi District is home district of the youngest elected Member of Parliament
in Africa continent, Proscovia Alengot Oromait who was elected in 2012 at the age
of 19 as a legislator for Usuk County in Katakwi District.

The district borders districts of Napak to the north, Nakapiripirit to the east, Kumi to the south, Ngora and Soroti to
the southwest and Amuria to the west.
District Headquarters: Katakwi, 55 kilometres north of Soroti, the largest town in
the Teso sub-region.
