Nwoya district is new in the Acholi sub-region in Northern Uganda. This is the home district of National Resistance Movement - NRM's Deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong. Mr. Todwong is the member of parliament for Nwoya County 2011-16.

It borders Amuru to the north, Gulu to the northeast, Oyam to the east, Kiryandongo to the southeast, Masindi to the south, Buliisa to the southwest and Nebbi to the west.
District Headquarters: Nwoya, 44 kilometres southwest of Gulu.
