Mpigi District

This is home to the famous St. Lawrence schools and colleges and St. Lawrence University plus a number of other good schools. Uganda Martyrs' University - Nkozi, one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the country is also located in this district.

Mpigi District is primarily a rural district, with only about 15% of the population living in urban areas. However, the district is fast attracting the Kampala's working class who are seeking affordable plots of land to build permanent residences near the city.

The district borders Wakiso District to the north and east, Kalangala to the south, Kalungu to the southwest, Butambala to the west and Mityana to the northwest.

District Headquarters: Mpigi, 37 kilometres west of Kampala.
