Lwengo district is in Central Uganda. It became functional on 1 July 2010. Prior to that, it was part of Masaka District.

The district borders Sembabule to the
north, Bukomansimbi District to the northeast, Masaka District to the east,
Rakai District to the south, and Lyantonde District to the west.
District Headquarters: Lwengo 45 kilometres west of
Masaka.
This is the home district of Uganda police's former director of operations and now director of human resource development, Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
