Isingiro District is the home district of wealthy businessman, Spear Group of Companies Chairman, Chancellor
of Nkumba University and Honorary Consul of Hungary to Uganda, Sir Gordon
Wavamuno.
Retired Major General Benon Biraaro, the presidential candidate in
2016 elections was born and lives in the district as well as Retired Major
Bright Rwamirama, the member of parliament (2011-2016) for Isingiro County North and State
Minister for Animal Industry.
Isingiro borders Kiruhura to the north, Rakai to
the east, Ntungamo to the west, Mbarara to the northwest, and the Republic of Tanzania to the south.
District Headquarters: Isingiro, 35 kilometres southeast of Mbarara.
