Tororo town (and the district) has a mix of ethnicities including Jopadhola, Iteso, Samia, Bagwere, and Banyoli.
Languages spoken correlate to the ethnicities – Dhopadhola, Lusamia, Ateso, Lugwere, and Lunyoli. English, Swahili, and Luganda are also spoken in the town
It is known for the Tororo Rock and the vast limestone deposits for cement manufacture. Tororo Cement derives its name from here.
The district borders the Republic of Kenya to the east as well as other districts including Mbale to the north, Manafwa to the
northeast, Busia to the south,
Bugiri to the southwest and Butaleja to the northwest.
District Headquarters: Tororo 230 kilometres east of Uganda’s capital Kampala.
