Kalangala District

Kalangala District is made up of 84 widely scattered islands in the northwestern part of Lake Victoria of which only 43 are inhabited.

The biggest island is Bugala Island which covers 60% of the district land mass. Only 5% is land and the rest is open water.

It borders six other districts including Mpigi and Wakiso to the north, Mukono to the northeast and east, Rakai to the southwest, Masaka to the west and Kalungu to the northwest. It also borders the Republic of Tanzania to the south.

District Headquarters: Kalangala on Bugala Island, the largest of the Ssese Islands on Lake Victoria, 60 kilometres across water southwest of Entebbe, in Wakiso District.
