Butambala District was formerly in Mpigi. It's newly created, bordering Mpigi to the east and south, Gomba to the
west and northwest, Mityana to the northeast, and Kalungu to the southwest.
District Headquarters: Gombe, 31
kilometres west of the town of Mpigi and 68 kilometres southwest of the capital Kampala.
