The current President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, and his
wife, Janet Museveni, were both born in Ntungamo district.
Janet Museveni has served as member of parliament for Ruhaama county in the district from 2006 to 2011 and 2011 to 2016.

Ntungamo district is in western Uganda. It was formed in the early 1990s, having previously been part of Mbarara district.
Lake Nyabihoko is stretches between two counties of Rushenyi and Kajara in Ntungamo
district. Rushenyi County is represented in parliament by Mwesigwa Rukutana, the labour state minister.
The district is to the north of the Republic of Rwanda. In Uganda it borders Mitooma, Sheema and Mbarara districts to the north, Isingiro to the east, Kabale to
the southwest and Rukungiri to the northwest.
District Headquarters: Ntungamo, 67 kilometres southwest of Mbarara.
