Kabarole district is the centre of the Kingdom of Toro, which is one of the oldest traditional cultural institutions in Uganda. Mountains of the Moon University is found here.
The district borders Ntoroko to the north, Kibaale to
the northeast, Kyenjojo to the east, Kamwenge to the
southeast, Kasese to the south and Bundibugyo District, across the Rwenzori Mountains to the
west.
District Headquarters: Fort Portal, 320 kilometres west of Kampala.
