Buyende district is in the Busoga sub-region in Eastern Uganda.

It borders Amolatar to the northwest, Kaberamaido to the north, Serere to the northeast, Kaliro to the east, Luuka to the southeast, Kamuli to the south and Kayunga to the west.
District Headquarters: Buyende, 30 kilometres north of Kamuli, and 100 kilometres north of Jinja.
