Bushenyi District is one of the oldest districts in western Uganda. The minister of security Mary Karooro Okurut hails from this district, and is the woman member of parliament 2011-2016.
Bushenyi borders Rubirizi to the northwest, Buhweju to the northeast, Sheema to the east, Mitooma to the south
and Rukungiri to the west.
District Headquarters: Bushenyi, 85 kilometres northwest of Mbarara.
